Rasmus Hojlund: Manchester United agrees to sign Denmark striker from Atalanta in £72m deal:
According to
rumors, Manchester United has agreed to purchase Atalanta's 20-year-old
Danish international striker Rasmus Hojlund. Manager Erik ten Hag has been
looking for a new striker since Cristiano Ronaldo left last year, and loan
replacement Wout Weghorst was released after an uninspiring stay at the end of the season.
According to
rumors, Manchester United and Atalanta have struck a deal worth €75 million
plus €10 million in add-ons for Rasmus Hojlund.
United
pursued the 20-year-old for much of the season, with sources claiming that
personal terms with Hojlund were agreed upon weeks ago.
According to
reports on Saturday evening, United has agreed on the broad strokes of a
contract with the Serie A club, which involves a fixed €75 million, with an additional
€10 million potentially available in add-ons.
Atalanta had
previously rejected United's offers, including players like Fred and Donny van de Beek, who are due to leave Old Trafford this summer.
United had
been linked with Tottenham striker Harry Kane. Still, Tottenham chairman Daniel
Levy is hesitant to trade to a Premier League competitor, and the England
international appears to be on his way to Bayern Munich instead.
Hojlund is
United's third summer signing. Mason Mount was signed from Chelsea for £55
million, while Andre Onana has taken over as first-choice custodian from David
de Gea.
United has
been linked with Urawa Red Diamonds custodian Zion Suzuki in the event that
Dean Henderson moves to Nottingham Forest, and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan
Amrabat is allegedly a target.
Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay have also been linked with
departures.
